THE MIDLAND RAILWAY.
Grey mouth, July 26 At Mr Guinnenb' meeting at Maori Gully, on Monday night, <t was asked whether he would try to get permission for miners, to take tail races underneath the Midland Railway, as these are at present allowed to go under main roads, su' j sot to the satisfaction of the County Engineer. It appears that no arrangement for such privileges has beenprjvldtad for m the agreement between the Government and the Midland Railway Company. For a considerable portion of the line the ground on the southern sides rises, and m places is auriferous, bo that the probability is miners will require some Buch privilege as indicated, m order to get rid of tail water and tailings. Mr Guinness promised to do what ho could to procure what was wanted In this respect.
