UPPER ASHBURTON ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the ahove was held at Tinwald yesterday. There was a full meeting — Messrs G. Jameson and H Friedlander interviewed the Board with regard to encroachment of the river on the Alford Foreßt road, stating that some protective works were necessary.— Board, decided to meet the deputation on the spot, and ccc what could be done, — A letter was road from the Borough Council, asking the Board to co-operate m forming a local Board of Health.— It was decided to reply that the Board is already a Board of Health, and will comply with the Couno'l's wishes. — Circulars were received from Mr Badger — The Surveyor's report was read, and his action m putting river crossings m order, and other works was endorsed. — It was decided to obtain shingle pits on the Main South Koad towards Chertsey ; also to ask the County Council for permission to take up culverts and substitute fords — Tt was decided to obtain a road through Crown landß m the direction of Barford. — Ihe Surveyor was directed to call tenders by Saturday next at noon, for (1) Drain on Alford Forest fload, (2) Formation and shingling on Barford Koad, — It was decided to reengage the present officer of the Board for £150 per annum, — Accounts were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned to August, 1887
