Wellington, July 22, Sir .Robert Stoat left for Auckland m the Mataroa thla evening, and he will probably address a political meeting there. Sand taken from Mr J. B. Smith's property a* Waitoa, Auckland, and forwarded to the Geological Department last Monday, has beon analysed by Mr Bk«y and found to contain a good perosntago of gold. The resnlt of the test has been forwarded to Mr Smith, who la now la Ohrietohurch endeavouring to form a company to work the deposits. The freezing hulk Jubilee, whioh went ashore at Petone on Wednesday mowing, was thlß evening floated off without bus* taining any damage whatever.
