A SINGULAR CHARGE
Wellington, July 19. Afc the Police Court to-day an elderly woman named Ann Parker, umbrella repairer, was charged with the larceny of a silver watch from the body of Charles Vallantrallor, whioh was pioked up m the harbor yesterday. Aooused said that ehe certainly saw the dead body on the beach, and she pioked up the watoh. Inspector Browne said that the bodj was yesterday washed upon the beach afc Ngnhaurauga, and the watoh was seen attached to deo9aaed's waistcoat. Bom<9 little time after vrards the watoh was mlasad, and aoouaed having passed by, suaplolon fell upon her. She was arrested and brought to the PoUoe Station, boi, when searched, the watoh ould not be found npon her. Ia the meantime she had gone to he* home, and afterwards her daughter brought down the watoh^ which ahe had found m her baok yard. A remand was granted.
