FATAL ACCIDENT

Wellington, July 19. A heavy southerly gale has been blowing frince last night and tolegraphio oommualoation with the north is Interrupted. The freezing hulk Jubilee, belonging to the Gear Company, has been driven on to Potoue beaoh. It it not known whether she. has sustained any damage. . News hao jaet been received that a boat containing six men put off to the Jubilee and oapaizad when close to the vessel. Two men got ashore but nothing Is known as to the fate of the remainder. As the accident occurred near the vesßel they may possibly have got on board. Tho Jubilee went ashore at high water thia morning. A boat was got ashore from here with a line and afterwards returned with tho Engineer. Then a boat containing G men put off from the shore, for what purpose It is not known, but It ia thought she may have been taking provision?. On reaching th^hulk the boat oapsized and three men, named 'Williams, Tetley, and Ashton, were drowned. One got on board and one got ashore. The sixth man 1« anppooed to be aboard also, but it io not known definitely whether he has escaped. One of those drowned got ashore hot expired afterwards, deßplte the efforts of two dootors.
