AUCTIONEER'S REPORT.

Mr Peter Williams (for Frledlander Bros.) reports for the week ending Tuesday, 12th July, 1887 :— On Thursday, 7th lost , we held a sale of Japanese goods in our Auction Room np-statrs. There was a large attendanoa, »nd every lot w*s sold at very satisfactory prices. On Saturday, the 9th instant, we held osr weekly sale of horses at our East street Horse Basaar. The entry consisted of 15 horses : 10 of whioh were from the Bontfe, being the third lot Mr Robert Gawn haa brought up. They were a grand lot, averaging £25 13s. The following are the prioea obtained :— £ls, £19, £20, £20, £22 10s, £24, £26, £30, £30. A grey i mare, " Nancy Lee," rising five years old, by Mrs Nimmo 'a Prince, out of Nelly by Emperor, which, as a yearling, was first prlza talker at the Dunedin and Taierl shows, alto ai a two year old she took first prize at the same places; she shows plenty of breeding, having good fiat bone, and plenty of hair. The bidding started at £30, and went up to £49, at which price she was withdrawn by Mr Gawn, who, we may mention, had an offer of £60 for her before leaving Dunedin. However, we euoceeded In placing her at the £60 to Mr Peter Doig abortly after the sale. We also sold on account of other vendors, medium draughts at £8, £10 and £19 10s ; horse tovere, 14s 6d ; get 4-lesf barrows, £5.

Pboddob.— -Potatoes, 3s 6d per bag ; mottOD, Ji_ to I__ per lb ; carcase pork, __4 to 2fd per lb; jam, 2_i per lb; onions, l£d per lb.. At the Ashburton yards on Tuesday, the 12th lost., abont 4073 sheep, 30 head of settle, and 1 pig were entered, and the following are the prices obtained : — Fat orossbreds, 8s 6d to lis 8d ; fat merino awes, 6s 3d ; 2-tooth mixed orossbreds, Ss Id to 7a ; wethers, 7s 9d ; mixed crossbred ewes in lamb, 6s Id ; merino boilers, 2i 6d to 2s lOd ; erossbred lambs, Bs 3d to 6s Id ; fat heifers, £3 10. to £3 17s 6d ; steers, £4 7s 6d ; cows, £5.
