INGLESIDE MEETING.
The Ingleaide gathering of tho Oaledonian Society held last evening at the Oddfellows' H»ll was .far and aw»y tho most Buooeßßfol of these thoroughly en* joyabie re -unions yet held In Aahbarton. (he attendance numbered not far ihort of 400 ; friends aaaembllDg from far and near, and there being a large sprinkling of the tartan. Among those present m the "garb of old Gael" were Mr John Murray, Orari, who attended aa an iflvlted guest.- This being the firifc Ingle" side einop her Majesty's Jubilee, " God aave the Queen " was sung at the commencement of the proceedings, Highlanders uncovering and: giving thro* hearty cheers. Songs, reclUtlona, 'and danolng then beoame the order of £h« night, among, the musioal items being the • ' Keel Row" and : « Oomln 1 thro* tho Rye," given by a Caledonian glee party consisting of 15 members, led by mv Cr. Gates and . Mrs Dunn ; " Annie o- . tho Banks o' tha Dee," by Miss X, Henry (eathuslantlcally encored), and a,, very pretty ballad by Miaa Marion Kidd V(oot am o ) whioh was alio greatly applauded. M(bb Btew*rt reoited tho " Stairhead Battle " admirably, *nd . the President (Me D. MoLean, L»gmhor), and Mr Lyon danced the Highland fling. A number of other excellent songs wero sang, lnoludlng two favorite Hen's from the always pleasing repertoire df Mfii G, Gates. .Mr M. -Uyaa danced a rittor'a hornpipe, an Item which was faultlessly exoouted, and ..was imperatively redemanded., (Mr W, H. Kneett b»w to the musical portion In an efficient manner. . Mr MoLean -Dorm as mualost director, and Mr O. Rold as M.O. fulfilled their duties $o the entire aatiafaotfoa of all, and the refreshmenta provided by the baohelorn, It la neediest to Bay, were highly appreciated. > The. entertainment was brought to a oopolnslon about midnight, and everyone went home thoroughly satisfied with the evening's entertainment.
