LONGBEACH ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of this Board was held oo Friday last. Present — Messrs J. Grigg (Chairman), J. Bishop, S. Holland and J. Williams. COBMSPONDBNCB. The following report from the Surveyors' was read;— (1) Watertoa Road.— We have examined the portion of this road at Waterton, the ■abject of an application by the proprietor of the Waterton Hotel, we find that there is iuoffioient outlet for the water whioh during floodi baoks up for some distance, and no doubt causes great inconvenience. The remedy is to take up the present oolvert (whioh m any ease would require attention before long) and m lieu thereof make a ford. A aonsiderable nuisance is also caused by flood water on this road opposite the Board's •ottages ; it would seam as if a large quantity of water ia diverted further up, and finds an outlet opposite the Sohool, and thenoe flows down the road towards the Longbeaoh Road. (2) Poplar Road. — Wo have had approaches to bridges and broken culverts attended to on this road. (8) Surveyors' Road.— Two bridges on this road are m a bad state and need repairs. Timber has been ordered, and the work will fcf proceeded with)as soon as possible. (4) Ford'fc Road. — Some time ago the Tinwald Town Board was requested to prevent the overflow of creek at Houston's from going down Ford's Road, but it would Mem without result, as during the last flood ft large quantity of water went down the road and is running still. This if allowed to •ontiana will do harm, besides diverting the water from its natural course. (5) Boundary Road. — Owing to the wet weather, we have been unable to have this toad attended to. (6) Maintenance. — The maintenance man has been employed m repairing culverts, bridges, and roads requiring immediate attention. Hi? diary lies on the table. Messrs Kennington and Bellamy, again Interviewed the Board with regard to their .elalm for delay. — The Board decided they would not grant the petition and instructed the Surveyor to settle with the contractors on certain terms. Toe Surveyors were directed to notify Mr MeKenale that if he does not make proper provision to carry the water iff this road where natural watercourses exist, at once, the Board will take steps to have the same enforced. DAWSOH'S ROAD. The Surveyors were initructed to* make imall drain to relieve the Ford at junc'lon ef Bell* and Dawson'a roads. - btjrv*tob'b road. The contractor 1 * petition for Increased pay for extra work, brought before tbe Beard at last meeting was considered— lt was resolved that It be not entertained. ADJOURJfMBST.
