The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed, also the minutea o the special meeting held on the 23rd of June. overseer's report. The Overseer's report was rtad and considered. The footbridge oq HewaonV road was ordered to be repaired as soon as poaßible. — Groia m Boyd's road : — The repairs to this groin were left m the hands of the Chairman to deal with : Oroßßing on Boyd's road : The crossing was ordered to be repaired as soon aa possible.— Crossing on Hewaon'a and Rutherford's road ; Ordered to etind ver for. the present, owing to the want of funds. — Alford Forest Main road: Thsre being no funds to the credit of this ward it was agreed to expend £25 out of the general funds to effect certain repairs waDted. — Alford Forest Main road near the Meant Somers School : It was resolved to call tenders for the supply of 500. yards of shingle to be delivered on tbia road : — Villiage Settlement road : It wasresolved to postpone this work till come fundß were available from the rents. ; ino;brview. , Me George Lamble interviewed the Board with iespeot to the road leading to his plaoe and near Mr Rutherford'B. It was resolved that considering the present etata of the Board's fuuda the work could not be undertaken. OpRRESPONDRNCE. The following was read and dealt wit a :; From the Mount Hutt Koad Board, asking for the balance of the rates due to that Board. — .Resolved to forward a. cheque for the amouat collected . From Mr A. E. Merewether asking for; work to be done on the Gorge Road near his station. — Resolved that the work could not be undertaken till next spring, and the Clerk was ordered to reply to that effect. From Mr J. Hood asking for a settlement of a claim made by Mr George Helim for the balance due from s lie o£ a mare sold out of the Mount Somers Pound.— Besolved that the claim be paid on the receipt of an affidavit signed before a J.P. that the mare was Mr Helim's at the time of the sale. : From Mr Hood, secretary to the Mount Somers Racecourse Committee asking the Board to take steps to get a road laid off to the Racecourse Reserve, as at present there is no available road. — Heaolved to leave the matter m the hands of the Chairman. Fn m Mr Brooks and Mr Neate offering toaupply poisoned wheat. — It wasresolved to order 25 bushels from Mr Neate, and. that a special meeting of the Board be held on Thursday, July 14th, to consider the best means of distribution. From the Ashburton County Council asking to be furnished with a statement of receipts and expenditure ; also a state • mentof assets and liabilities for the year ending 31st March. The Clerk was ordered to send the necessary information From Mr Herring asking permission to take a water race down the side of the Singleton Road near Section 30184 — Granted. • From Mr Sperrey, forwarding an application form for balance of subsidy. Left In the hands of ( he Ohrlrman. TENDERS. Tenders were opened for reducing the prade of cutting near the Alford Forest Hotel, and that of Mr M. Fagan w&b accepted at £12. The tender of Mr W. Fergus was accepted at £5 for the Pound. SMALL BIRDS HEAD 3. , It was resolved not to purchase small birda heads while the poisoning waß being done. RATE. Proposed by Mr McFar?ane, seconded by Mr Harrison, and carried—" That a rate of \ i m the pound be struck on all rateable property iv the district, the rate l'st to be signed on August Ist." ALFORD FOREST MAltf ROAD. Mr McFarlaue gave notice thtt he would propose at the next meeting of the Board that the road from the Mount Somera Railway Station to the ' North Ash barton btidga be a general charge against the Board's funds, it beirg a main road. ACCOUNTS. The pay-sheet amounting to £79 133 was passed for payment, and the Board adjourned to Monday, August Ist, 1887.
