A REMARKABLE PHENOMENON
Mr Lucius Boy, of Boydville, Queen's County, publishes m the "Dublin Express" the following singular particulars:—A very utranee atmospherical phenomenon was witne-. c • m Castleoomer and tbe surrounding d'atriot for abcnt four miles, on Satnrday night. A general depression was felt all over the district at about four o'clock m the afternoon, accompanied by lightning and thunder, and a tremendous rainfall, which continued till about seven o'olook. More lightning was then apparent, and at 7.30 the town i of Castleojmer seemed to be enveloped m: a thick black oloud. Animals .were' frightened, dogs rushed to and fro m a wild and frantic state. At about 7. 50 a th'ok black rain fell, sufficiently black to stain any white cloth, and apparent'y impregnated with an tnsoluable dust. The water of the local streams and cisterns was discolored, and m many places could not be used for domestic purposes.
