At a meeting of Gas Consumers yesterday a letter was submitted from tbe Company conceding a number of Dointa It was resolved to ask the City Council to appoint an Inspector of Meters, and the meeting adjourned for a week.
Protection of N.Z. Shipping. KThe Trades and Labor Council haa reßolved to adopt the platform of the "Radical Reform League with the addition of a clause In favor of the Village Settlements Scheme and the protection o* New Zealand shipping against foreign vessels m the coastal trade.
A Bugler Arrested. Wellington, June 30. A rather peculiar cane c»me before the Court this morning. Allao Campbell, Bugler of the Wellington Rifles, was arrested on board the barque Glenora (wtitfog to »ail for Valparaiso first fair wind) charged with being about to change hte residence before delivering up his rifle, accoutrements and uniform to the offioer commanding the corps The cane wai remanded to Monday, ball being allowed.

At the annual meeting of the Farmers' Co-operative Association to day the bal-ance-sheet showed a profit of £4000. It was decided to pay a dividend of 7 percent and 2$ per cent bonus on the called-up capital) and 2^ per cent bonus to nharefcolders on purchases and commissionß.
