[Bt Telegraph.] Blenbkim, JanefO A most disastrous conflagration broke ODt In Blenheim shortly before 2 o'oUok tbis mornlDg, Tho tire, which was first discovered In the apartments occupied by the family of Mr Garter, landlord of the Criterion Hotel, soon bad a firm hold of the building and quickly spread to the adjoining buildings occupied by Mr Augustus Barber, rnnning along Market ■treet and consuming shops occupied by Ftloonor (Cabinet maker), Barns (saddler), Eealy (bootlhop), Galloway (draper), and Adams (butoher). The offices of D, J ifaoaUstet (commission agent), were pulled down and this stopped the progress of the fire m this direction. ■ A light nor- wetter fanned the flames across the street, de •ttoying the Colonial Bank, the Jubilee Drapery Warehouse and the shops of William* (bootmaker), McKec eie (butoher), Tuoker (stationer), Oldershaw (con fee tioner), Elsou (druggist), No. 1 shop, Bfogstadt (barber), Pyott (clothier) and Mulltn (draper), Bison (druggist), No. 2 shoo, Griffiths (auctieneer), Macey (photographer) and Moaon (watchmaker). The Premise* of Scott (confectioner) were catted. In Alfred street, the Oddfellows' Hall and two cottages were consumed It is thought the value of the property destroyed will amount to about fifty thousand pounds. Fuller particulars later.
