THE HON WILLIAM ROLLESTON AT PREBBLETON

Ci-RI-HOhuboh, Jane 28. The Hon W. Rolleston addressed a crowded meeting at Prebbieton to-night. He was warmly reoeived. He defended his aotion H reference speoially to the grain rates nnd tbe Midland Hallway, contending that hi. Government had re> duoed 'theiformer ou the asiuranoe that the revenue would not suffer thereby. He contended that they had compulsoriiy to raito tho rates again owing to diminished inooma. With regard to the Railway, he contended that, personally, he had cons! .ten tly supported the undertaking. Proceeding to deal with general .objects, he attempted to show that the reductions Claimed by the present Govern* meht had.no real existence. *

At the oiose of the proceedings Mr Rolleston received a veto of thanks for hia add rets, three oheera being given for Mr i.'Calloghan. The meeting, though domonetrative, wai well conducted.
