GOOD NEWS FOR HOUSEWIVES. WASHING MADE EASY.

TO THE EDITOB.

Sir, — You will confer a boon on all your lady readers if you will kindly republish the following, whioh I cut out of an Otago paper some time ago. It originally appeared, I believe, m the «• Witness," but I found it m a letter to an Oamaru paper, (I think the " North Otago Times,") from a lady who stated that she had not only herself tried it with great success, but that many of htr friends had adopted the same method and were all agreed as to its efficacy. This is the recipe :—

Cut down lib of soap, and put it with cold icater m an ordinary sized copper ; let it come to tlie boil, add 2£ or 3 tabhspoonfuls of kerosene ; put the dry, soiled clothes m the boiling mixture, and ' boil- for ten or fifteen minutes, draw into clean water, rinse into blue water, and from that hang out. The clotJies look btautiMly white, and need no rubbing; Beingjmuch interested m the foregoing, as promising an escape from the terrors of washing-day, I have put it to the test and am delighted at the result. The plan answers to a marvel, and the clothes are made perfectly clean and white without any rubbing whatever, thus doing away with all the heavy labor of the most trying part of the week's work. As I am anxious to make known so good news as widely as possible, I venture to eak the use of your columns for that purpose. I am, etc, . ,: , One op youk Lady Beadkbp,
