A market gardener noticed that a beap of carrots he had unearthed was gradually diminishing, so he oat up one night to watch it, when he saw a dog approach, seize one ot the roots by his mouth, and trot off to a distant stable with it. On arriving there the dog, wagging his tali, deposited the carrot m the manger of the horse whose stall he snared.
