SVLast night's sitting of the House of Commons was occupied by a discus* sion on the Bodyke evictions^ the followers of Parnell fiercely attacking the landlords and bitterly complaining of the violence displayed by the police. The Right Hon Arthur Balfour, Chief Secretary for Ireland, defended the action of the" police, declaring that if they exceeded their duty it was because they had been'prbvoked' beytnd endurance.
