AUCTIONEERS' REPORT

Mr Peter Williami (for Friedlander Bros) reports for the week ending Tuesday 31at May, 1887 :—

On Friday, 27th mist., we held onr first skin sale nf the season, at our East Street Horse I** mar It wa6 a very good salf. Wo sold at RUotlon and privately 2187 shins at the following prices : — 825 merino wethera, 2i 7d ; 962 merino ewes, Is 6d ; good heavy c-oßsbreda up to 3a 8d ; crossbred lambs, 2s 9i to 2b 10j ; inferior, la to 2s lfr We beg to cnll the attention of buyers ,to our advertisement for Friday next, 3000 skins being entered up to the present time.

On Saturday. 28th liißt., we held our weekly sale of horses at our East Street Horse Ba/^ar. The entry wna not bo large as last week. Ten carae forward, oat of wbloh we sold blx at the following p> ioeß :— Medium draughts from £16 to £21 ; inferior, £8 to £11. We still have enquiries for good heavy draughts fit for work. 1

_ Previous to the sale of horses we sold a piano, f urnituro, and Bundry lot of goods at satisfactory priooß, Prime mutton, lAd per lb ; onions, Id to l^[d ; potatoes. 3s Gd to (is per bag ; bacon, 3d ; hams, 5d ; fowls wheat, 9s per bag. At tho Tinwald yards on Tuesday, the 31st, about 11,000 sheep, 50 hoad cattle, and 40 pigs wero brought forward. The prices wore very much better than last sale. Ihero was good competition for all clueaea of young aheep Fat crossbred wethers fetched fronVOa lOd to 7h 3d ; fat merine wethoro, 4s Od to Gb ; fat ctossbred ewoa^ 4s (Jd, 4s Od to 5s 9d ; two, four, and Bix-tooth crossbred ewes, 4s lid to 5s 5d ; mixed ages, crossbred owes, up to 6s ; forward merino wothers, 2s 10d to 3b 4d ; crossbred lambß, from 3s 4d to 4s Bd. A grand lot of quarter-back wothors (good stores), 4s 3d.
