London, M.y 24 Consols have risen and are now quoted at 103^. New Zealand 4 per cent subscribed stock remains at par. Adelaide wheat, off coast, is 6d lower, 37s 6d; Adelaide flour, 255; New Zealand wheat, lowest qualities 335, best qualities 37s 6d. Australian beef tallow, average quality, 225; mutton tallow, 235.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Limited, has received the following cable message from London, dated 24th May, 1887: — Wool — The Australian clip is inferior, Trade m the manufacturing districts fs dull. The prospects of the domestic clip are good. Wheat — The tone of the market is fair. New Zealand wheat — Average and longberried are worth respectively 36s and 37s per 4961 b. Tallow — Market is quiet. Good mutton is worth 2is 6d and good beef 20s 3d per cwt. Leather — Maiket is unchanged. Frozen Meat — Market depressed. Stocks are m excess of trade requirements. Canterbury mutton and lamb are worth 4-% and $■% respectively per lb.
