DR. LYNN.

In spite of the rather inolement weather last evening, there was a fairly lerge assemblage at the Oddfellows' Hall, on the oocaslon of Dr Lynn's first appearance m Ashburton, Dr Lynn comes to us with the highest credentials as to hU power of mystify ing the publio, and his wonderworking entertainments have gained great kudos for him wherever he has been. Under theae circumstances, therefore, all who went to tbe Oddfellows' Hall last evening expeoted something above the ordinary run of conjuring, and it is not too much to say that not only did eveiyone go away not disappointed, but thoroughly eat sfied that they had seen and, enjoyed a great deal more than thoy expeoted. Not the least attractive feat* ore of Dr Lynn's entertainment is the running} fire of witticisms which he indulged In j what is technically known as the "patter " being infinitely superior to that to whloh we are customarily treated at ejhiti ions of the kind. Of course we cannot here describe m detail all the wonderful things the doctor does ; all tbat we can do is to recommend everyone who possibly oan attend to go to the enter* talnment to-night, when m addition to observing seemingly Impossible feats performed, as it were almost nnder their noses, they do not erj .y»a thorough evening's foo, it will be more extraordinary that are any of the Dootor'a trick.. The piece de resistance last night was the " Vanishing Lady " mystery, and this was performed m a manner which left no inkling of "how it was done;" The Dootor appears for the last time m Aahburton this evening, when as an additional attraction, it Is announced that a man — the more prominent and well-known the better — will be cut up into piecer. Surely here Is a chance for some of the Impecunious to get rid of an Importunate oreditor, if only the doctor could be prevailed npon to forego the restoring process . !fhe merit of the entertainment deserve.
