AUCTIONEEES' REPORT.

Mr Peter Williams "(for Friedlander Bros ) reports for the week ending'Tneßday, 24th May, 1887 : -

On Thursday, 19th Inst., we held a clearing -sale of Mr -Hugh Kennedy's farm stcck and implements. The attendance was large. The homestead, consisting of 329 acres, waa put up firßt. and starting at £5 per aore, it ran up to £7 15 j, when it was pasßed m, not reaching the vendor's reßerfe. The farm on the plains waß also passed m, After the farms we wont on to the implements, and the following prices were obtained : — Dray?, frrm £4 to £7 17* 6d ; harrows, from £1 10a to £4 15s ; Cco_ skill roller, £3 ; graßß stripper, £2 10a ; MoSherry drill, £12 ; reaper and binder, £5 ; doublefurrow ploughs, £2 10a ; grubber, £2 10i ; spring trap, £11 10s ; set harness, £4 5.. The horaea were of medium quality, and fetched £15 to £17 ; aged, £11 to £11 10 b j inferior, £5 10a to £6 ; yearlings, £4 to £5 7s 6d ; buggy horae, 4 year-old, £12. The sheep were not a bad lot, but owing to the wet day, did not look their beat. Lambs, 3s 4d ; hoggets, 33 10 d ; four, six and eight-tooth eweß, 2a 9d|to 2a lid. Cattle— Dry cows, from £1 2s 6d to £2 7s 6d. Cows, calved, from four to six-weeks, were m demand, and fetched £3 lCs, £4 sa, £4 103, £5 15s. Wheat— Hunter's white, 13a to 13a 6d per bag ; fowl wheat, 9a 4d per bag. Oats, 7a 6d per bag. Grass seed from lis 4d to 12a 7d per bag, all bags m. Harness, horse-covers, and sundries at full rates. One stack oaten sheaveß, £9.

On Saturday, 21st, we held our weekly sale of horaea at our Eaat Street Horee Bazaar. Out of an entry of 34 horaea we sold 27, 21 of whioh were a grand Btamp of draughts, from 3 to 7 years i old. They were very much admired. There waß a large attendance of buyers, and the bidding on the whole was very spirited, Bhowing that first-olass draughts are still m demand. Several farmers wanting draught Btock had to go uneupplied. Meaara Imrie and Gawn'a 16 were the first put up. They were all mares with the exception of 2. This lot averaged £20 all ronnd. The following are the prices realised, v.z. :— £l9, £18, £17, £14, £16, £10, £23, £27, £25, £28, £17, £14 10s, £16 103, £20, £35. The n-^xt lot submitted was a grand team of f] geldings, the property of Messrs Ede Bros. The competition wbb very keen for this lot, they were from 4 to G years old, and averaged £23 10a, vis. :— £l9 10s, £24, £31, £25, £21 10s, £22. We also Bold inferior draughts, £8 to £10} hacks, £4 to £11. Previous to the horse aalo we submitted Mr J. H, Carieton's farm at Mount Somers, oontalning 99 acres, 2 roods, 26 perches. The bidding Btarted at £5 per acre, and ran up smartly at 5b bids to £7, when it was knocked down to Mr W. Tnrton at that price. We also sold prime mutton at Hi per lb ; unions, Id per lb ; bacon, 3d f hams, 41; potatoes, 3a 9d to 6a per bag; fowls feed, 9a per bag ; and sundry other goods at satisfactory prioes.

On Monday, 23rd Inst., we held a clearing sale of Mr G. Graham's farm and live and dead stook. There wa. a good attendance. The farm consisting of 200 acres, was submitted first, but was withdrawn, it not finding a purchaser at vendor's reserve, but we hope to place it privately during the week. The horaea were a good ÜBeful lot, Medium draughts fetched from £15 to 10a ; aged, from £6 to £11 10. ; inferior, £4 10a to £6 ; hacks, from £2 to £6 103 ; horse covers, 20a to 21b ; harness, at fair rates ; dray, £8 ss ; disc harrowß, £6 Ida ; corncrnßher. £4 ; double-! arrow plough, £6 10s ; _,Q tos. oat gheaf chaff, £2 10a per ton, bags extra ( oats, fo Gd per bag ; fowl wheat, 6s Id per bag j grass seed, 15a 41 per bag, all bags m ; 324 merino ewea at la 6d.

Tuesday, 24th mat., being the Queen's birthday, there was no sale on that day at the County yards. The sale next Tuesday will take plaoe afc the Tinwald yards.
