New Plymouth Harbor. New Plymouth, May 19. Mr McGiiire, of Hawera addressed a largely attended meeting 7a it night, when he advocated handing over to Governmenjt the New Plymouth harbor. He contended that the colony was In duty bound to take it over owing to Parliament having inflicted an Injustice on the settlers as well as the bond holders by changing the tenure of the lands after it had been pledged for harbor purposes to the British creditors and he showed that the harbor was the only plaoa of refuge for vessels on the west coast seaboard of fifteen hondred miles, and it would therefore benefit the colony to complete it. He showed that the aßßets m land revenue with the land at disposal would be a profit to the colony In the transaction, A Committee wan appointed to agitate the proposal. Suicide. Ouristohuroh, May 19, This morning the body of John McDonald, a patient m the hospital, wbb found m the river. He is supposed to have committed suiolde. He was seen half an hour before by the attendant and then eeemed all right, The Illicit Distilling Case. TIMAKtr, May 19. The oonvlction of .J. and J. Matthews at the R.M. Court on Maroh 11, for poßneßeing an illicit still, was quashed at the District Court because the Justices added costs £7 te the fine of £ICO ,
