THE RAILWAY COLLISION

(REUTER TBLBQKiMSLr-Ooi'YRIQTIT) Mblbodhnb,. May 12. There is little further to add to the account of the railway accident already . telegraphed. The passengers who were killed and injured were all m the fear of the first train. The passengers m the express escaped without injury. Among the latter were Messrs Green and Speight, Railway Commissioners, who were m the foremost van. The driver and stoker of the express were both burned to death by the furnace. It has not yet been ascertained who was responsible for the accident, but it is found that the two trains were admitted on one block section. The driver who was killed atrahged to commence his annual holiday to-day. The persons injured m the railway accident are progressing favorably. The " Herald " states that the number of the injured is eighty-seven, many of them being only slightly hurt. Official reports of the railway accident throw little light on the subject. They generally point to the fact that a mistake occurred at Prahran, where the telegraph operator is a boy of fifteen, who had only been m the Railway Department a fortnight. The guard of the first train is blamed for not going back to warn the express, when he knew his own train could not proceed. The Board of Inquiry will meet tomorrow, wherf also an inquest will be held on the bodies of those killed m the accident. (Received May t3, 2.20 p.mV) Melbourne, May 13. The "Argus" state that fully 150 persons were injured more of less severely by the Windsor railway accident.
