Thorsday, May 6. The Counoil met at 2 30 p.m. BARMAIDS. The petition of 2455 residents of Ohristohuroh against the employment of barmaids was presented. DIVORCE The Dlvoroo Aot Amendment BUI Wis strongly opposed by Dr Grace, Mr Buckley, Mr Richmond and others. Mr Richmond moved that it be read that day six months. Colonel Bratt, Mr Oliver, Mr Sootlaod, aad Mr Barniooat gave it more or lew partial support. Mr Reyn>lds observed chat the opposition Beamed to be more against some of the olausea than againet the Bill, and hoped it would be allowed to go Into com. mittee. The amendment was oarried by 12 to 10, and the Bill thrown out. The Council rone at 4.10 p;m.
