We clip the following important testimonial from the " Illawarra Mercury" (N.S.W.), on the 30th Maroh. It needs no comment :— " Mr John Loveday, of the Bulli Mountain, writes to us that after suffering for four years with aoute gravel, ha has experienced almost complete leliof by using Sander and Sons' Eucalypti Extraot. He says, seeing the saifl Extraot advertised m the " Illawarra Mercury," his intense (suffering induced him to obtain a bottle of the medioinofrom Mr Hosking, chemist, of this town, and that the use of it gave him great relief at once. He states' that between tho 10th Maroh inßtant, when ho obtained tho first bottle of the oxtraot, and op the 19th, the use of that medioine continued to afford him relief, to which ho had been a stranger for four years, Mr Loveday writes also that ho has found the Eucalypti Extract a oure for rheumatism as well as gravel. He requests us to publish this information through the " Mercury." We have muoh pleasure m complying with Mr Loveday's request, whose word oannot be doubted, and who can have no objeot m view other than a pure desire to benefit suffering humanity."— (Apvi.) i

The balance-sheet will be found m another column. | The Ashburton hounds met yesterday i at the Elgin School, and at the appointed time some forty equestrians had arrived, and tho weather being all that could be desired* there was;also a largo number of conveyances well filled with supporters of the hunt. The hounds threw off at Mr Hudson's, and aft er a short delay m finding a hare the paok at last viewed one away which made for the plains. After a run of about fifteen minutes at a rattling pace, pua# made for |the plao o started from, and tho hounds, appeared to have her, slightly beaten. A mob of sheep, however, getting between them and their quarry, and following it down the hedgo side, the Bcent was lost, and what promised to be a really good run was at an end. Mr Bowyer hied m all directions to pick up the scent again but without success. Nearly an hour was spent before another hare was found, but the followers were rewarded by their perseverance with a fine run of about 35 minutes, but no kill as the hare was lost m the plantations surrounding Mr Eight's house, on the Seafield Road. The fenoes were well kept and good jumps but m most cases the wire was high and it speaks well for the horaea'in the field when we are able to say there was one spill and that not a serioas one 1 Amongst the followers were :— Mr and Mrs Upton and their two boys Messrs Stitt, Winter, Hunt, Bunting, O'Gonnell, Harti Butterick, (8) Worner, Smith, Heseltine Miller, Healy, White, Norrish and A. From personal knowledge of the members I feel oertain that they will work heartily with me for the good of the sohool. It is with confidence of assistance being rendered that I therefore appeal to them for their help m making the attendance more regular than it has been m the past. The incidental fund received by. your Committee, as well as a portion of the master's salary, is paid according to the average attendance. But independent of either of these considerations, the sucoess of a child's study depends bo much on regular consecutive lessons, and it is next to impossible for a pupil to pass a standard each year, who does not attend whenevers its health and the weather permit.— With the purpose of increasing the children's interest m sohool work 1 would respectfully suggest that prizes be promised to the children m each Standard for attendance during the ensuing nine months ; for the same end I wish to ask your Committee to have notices printed similar to last year, that parents ;may have due information if a child be absent. Appended is a list of absentees who have been away half the times the sohool has been open, and are not present to-day, with exouses when known. — The attendance fcr the past month has been 186*3 ; average for past month, 14G'l ; highest attendance 153'jmd number on roll, 223. After considerable disoussion, it was resolved that owing to want of want of funds no prizes would be given. Resolvedjto have the notices printed as asked for; also to pro* vide pens. — The Chairman and Mr Broadbent were appointed to look after the earthwork and shingle required. — A ciroular ie punishment was reoeived from the Education Board. — It was resolved that tho Chairman should apply for copies of the Eduoation Act, The Chairman's aotion in] obtaining a supply of fuel was approved of.
