NOTICE is hereby given that a petition under the above Acts has been this day filed at the Resident Magistrate's Court, Ashburton, of which the followng is a copy : — We, the undersigned Electors of the , Upper Ashburton Hoad District, hereby declare that we verily believe that at the Election to the office of Member for the Hnkatore Ward, holden at Tinwald on the twenty third day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven, at which Ronald Campbell was declared to J be duly elected to tho said office, the election of the said Ronald Campbell is . void upon the following grounds :-*- j (1) That Section 49 'of " The Road j Board 8 Act, 1882," was not com- * plied with J (2) That the nomination of Mr Hiiro ' Friedlander was not accepted by the Returning Offioer, being an irregularity undor Sub-section 6, {Section 50, of the " Regulation of Local, Elections &ct, 1876," which tended to defeat the fairness of the Election. And wo pray that enquiry may be made into the said Election under tho provisions of the " Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876," and that iho said Election may be declared to be void.
