■♦■ ■■. Wellington, May 3. It is probable an inquest on tbo Posloffice fire will bo held on Friday next. A meeting of the Macandrew Memorial Commit: ee was hold at the Houae of Representatives to-day. Present — The Premier, Hon Colonel Brett, Hon B. Campbell, and Hon W. Swamon, M.L.C's, Messrs Gore, D. Stewart, and Jas Mills, M.H.R'B. After discusßing the Bubject thoroughly it was resolved that the three Dunedin city members and Mr James Mills should take the sense of the membera of both Houses as to tlio form the memorial should take, before proceeding any further. Almost incessant rain has fallen since Saturday and a south- easterly gale is blowing. Owing to the rain and wind shipping is at a complete standstill. At present there is no sign of an abatement. It is understood Sir Q. Grey has been invited to attend and addreafc a public meeting m Dunedin to protest against Ihc Irish Coercion Bill now before' the Imperial Parliament. Sir George- Grey, m replying, expressed sympathy with the movement, but rogretted that his health and Parliamentary engagements prevented him from acceding to the request. Lieutenant Colonel Thoa. McDonne'l received from General Fir Duncan Cameron a very complimentary letter, acknowledging receipt of papers containing an account of the presentation of the New Zealand Croßß to Lieutenant-Colonel McDonnell, Dunk din, May -3. The Directors of the National Insdrrnce Company have declared an interim divi dend of 10 per cent per annum for lh( half-year ending 31st March.
