FAIR TRADE.
At a banquet given by the Fair Trade League last night, Sir Graham Beiry declared that fair trade had given unexampled prosperity to Victoria. Sir Samuel Griffiths, of Queensland, m the course of his speech, expressed the belief that a custom union of the different parts of the empire was not, feasible He urged that higher duties be imposed on goods imported from foreign countries than the latter impose on British or colonial productions. Proposal submitted to Conference.
