SOUTH AUSTRALIAN POLITICS.
Adxlazdk, April' 26. The Parliamentary elections are now completed, and the Legislative Assembly is composed chiefly of members who have not, sat m Pafliament before. There is a substantial majority m favor of protection, an absolute majority m favor of payment of members, and a large majority will support an increase m the land tax, and Government have intimated that they have abandoned their intention of introducing a property tax on the basis of the New Zealand Act. It is expected Parliament with a view to adjust the revenue will immediately deal with the following subjects — Thorough reorganisation of the system of leasing Crowns Lands, and of pastoral runs on the • expiration of the present leases, appointment of Boards controlling the Civil service and railways. It is expected that the revenue from the present land and income taxes will be increassd by abolishing the exemption. (Received April 27, 1.10 p.m«) A DISABLED MAN-OF-WAR. Melbourne, April 27. Her Majesty's troopship Tyne, bound for Sydney with relief crews, has been sighted off Wilson's Promontory flying a flag showing that she is disabled, apparently having been m collision with some rock or wreckage. H.M." surveying vessel Myrmidon is m attendance and there appears no immediate danger to the Tyne. • *
