IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.
London. April 22. At to-day's sitting of the Imperial Conference the Secretary of War submitted a detail proposal by the Imperial Government for defences of coaling stations throughout the empire. He estimated the expense of such defence at a million and a half, exclusive Qf tbe cost ©f the Australian defence. Sir Samuel Griffith and Sir Dillon Bell dwelt upon the large payments by Australasia on account of defence, and the small share of England towards the same.
