REPORTED RESIGNATION OF SIR W. FITZHERBERT
The Correspondent of the "New Zealand Herald " states :— " I hear to-day, from a source upon which I think roliance nay be placed, that the cablegram sent to Sir W. FUzberbert, announotog the difficulty that has arisen m respoot to tho appointment of another Speaker to te Council, reached him at Colombo, and Sir William has forwarded hU resignation to the Governor. As most of the meinbett of the Cabinet are at present absent * from Wellington, no official announcement has yet been . made of this intelligence Owing to the temporary disability of Mr j Tole, there are only two Cabinet ( Ministers who could meet for any public ; business, and consequently no immediate action can be taken m the matter, but there Is a change m the Bit nation as regards the appointment.
