THE FISK JUBILEE SINGERS.

The Fiak Jubilee Singers, who open at Ashburton on Monday ' week, are to judge from the unanimous testimony of the press tbe most successful company of oolored vocalists who have ever ontered upon the tour of the world. They have appeared before the Queen, the Emperor of Germany, the Empress of Russia, and a score of other Crowned heads, ard their singing ia spoken of as of indescribable pathos and wonderful sweetness. They have been the means of founding the Fisk University for colored people, which was built and furnished at a cost of 120,000 dollars, with funds raised by them. Five students of that University are already labouring as missionaries m Weßt Africa. Having accomplieed the task which they had B_et themselves m raising funds for the noble institution before referred to, the Fisk Singers are now travelling m their own interest, and certainly deserve the support of the public. In addition to their repeated tours through the Northern States, they have thrice vißited England, Scotland, and Ireland, and made tours through Holland, Germany, and Switzerland. Everywhere their songs touched the hearts of the people and called forth tho deepest sympathy for ihe cause of education among thoso for whom they have done bo much. Queen Viotoria gives an enthusiastic account of their singing, and the " Birmingham Daily Post " Baya that no more perfect vocalisation as regards true harmony m part ainging was evor heard m that town. It is evident, therefore, that the public of Ashburton may look forward to a treat of no ordinary kind. The repertoire of this company is a varied and extensive one, and an entirely new programme is given on each evening
