SOUTH RAKAIA ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the South Kakaia Road Board w«s held oh Thanday. Present -Messrs Coster (Chairman) Tucker aud Mulligan, Appologies for nonatt«ndanoe were ft* ceived from [Ma are Allan and Holmei, clerk's hep bt. The Clerk's report was read. Ha com* plained of the manner m whioh Mr Moodte looked after the mill, and that that m tbj plantation damagtd by Murphy it would require some 200 trees to replace thoie burnt , The fences also require repairing. The report was adopted • " OBOBSINaS.' Mr Mulligan complained of the cross* ings near Ohertiey on the Boundary Boad — ft was stated that only a few weeks ago the Board paid £3 12a 6d for removing culverts and forming crossings and an ex? peace would be involved of £5 each to reform— lt was resolved to reform the crossings— Tenders to be called for the w<>rk before next meeting Jfc was lated that arrangement* had been made with Mr Sheehan to repair the crossings on Kyle road at 35s each. xbbes. The Olerk was instructed to reply to Mf Murphy that his offer to replace trees was accepted, and he would be given inthaatloa when the same were to be pat In. t SOBSIDT. Resolved that the Government b« applied to for the usual subsidy on rate struck, vie, 75 per cent. BATB OOLUSOTOB. Mr Makeig was appointed ntt ooU lector, WATZRBAOES. Mr Yaoatiehe received permission to make oertaln crossing* for water note near his property, to a specification to bit provided by the Board. ; CONTBACTB. Mr Silcook wrote with regard to alt contract on Mainwarlng'sroad, stating that the Board had broken his contract and he had now got other work m hand and could not complete the work for mom five months,— -The Clerk was instructed to reply that unless the contract were completed by 31st M*y the work would b« done bj the Board at Mr Siloook'i expense. BAILAST PIT. Mesara Holmes and Loughrej wrote stating that Mr White would not sign the trandsfer for land for a ballast pil until the Board fiLned an agreement m accordance with his letter to the Board —It was rasolved that the agreement be made. -. FOOTPATH^. It was resolved to oall for tenden for the formation of a footpath from the Village Settlement on back road to Rakaia, POUND, The Poundkeeper wrote re Mr Boyle chiming sheep from the pound end refusing to take the same away. He also asked if he oould crop two of the seotloni for erecting a new fence.— The Olerk was instructed to report on the fence next meeting ; consideration of the sheep question to be brought up at the same time. TENDER. Mr Clifford's tender (or forming footpath m the settlement was accepted at 9s a chain. Mr Haalett interviewed the Board regarding the same footpath, bat the Board taking exception to his behavior no information would be given him. RB'IBING MEMBBBS ■ ■* - Lotß were drawn for determining rstlr* ing members, and Messrs Holmes and Tucker wore selected. Nominations to fill the office will be taken up to May 2nd, and the eleotlon If necetsiry on May 7th. The annual meeiiog of ratepayers wilt be held on Monday May 2nd, at 12.30 p.ttt* MILL. The Clerk waa inatructed to inform Mr Hoodie that his contract for looking after the mill was cancelled owing to nil not performing the work p operly. PAYMENTS. Accounts amounting to £116 15» 104 were passed and the meeting adjonratd.
