There was a considerable falling off m both supplies and attendance and business throughout was wretchedly dull
Oatilb.— The supply of fat cattle was below the average m point of numbers, and was mainly oompoaed of secondary q.alltles. A few well-frd heifers and Bteera sold at the equivalent of l?s 6d per ICO.b ; but fair boat only brought from l6a 6d, and secondary and inferior from 15a downwards. The demand was dull, edpeoially for the indifferent qualities, whioh are m over supply. Fair steer* and heifers, medium weights, sold from £6 to £6 10s; light, and cows, £3 to £5. In the store yard the entries were mostly odd lots, but a few linei of fnirly-o <uditioaud cattle were among thatn. Good steers, three-years old, sold at (3 6< to £3 17d 6d, heifers of same age £3 U 6 t A hue of yearlings sold at £1 oioh Dairy cows vt the x>&nt olaas contmae to sell well, and up to £9 5a was realised for well-bred, recently oalved cows.
Shbep. — Although the number penned was less than last week's, every fat iheep pen was ag*ln filled, but with a very indifferent assortment, good linuß of crossbred wethers particularly being conspicuously absent. The demand was weak, and prices dropped about 6d a head. Prime mutton is not quotable, but fair croßßbred w«thers and maiden ewes sold at lsd per lb middling quality, Id ; and inferior and old sheep at " skin and fat prices. " The best cross-bred wethers sold at 8s ; lighter and ewes, 4s 6d to 7s , merino wethers, prims Id per lb, middling and inferior nominal values. A fair amount of basinets was done m the store sheep depar ment, The principal sales were 266 . cross-bred maiden ewes, twotooth, 4s 6d ; 330 oross-bred wethers, two-tooth, 3i 6d ; 600 cross-bred lambs, 2s ; 330 oroßß bred wethers, two-tooth, 3b 6d ; 310 oross-bred mixed, four-tooths^ 4s 2d ; 190 two-tooth croaa-bred ewes, 4s 4d ; 450 two-tooth mixed crossbred*, 4s ; 120 two-tooth cross-bred wethers, 4s 9d ; 124 four-tooth cross-bred wethers, 5s 9i ; 103 two-tooth cross-bred wethers, 3s 6d ; and for boiling down, 550 merino ewes, Is Id to It 3d ; 600 merino ewes, 1b 4d ; 600 cross-bred ewes, 2a 8d ; and 170 crosß-bred ewes, Is 6d. Fat lambs sold at about recent rates, the top price of the day being 8s for an exceptionally prime lot. Good lines sold at 5s to 6s 6d ; middling, 4s ; stores, 23 to 3s 6 i. Rams sold at 5s to 7b Get for boiling down. lias.— There was abont an average entry, but mostly of nondescript character. Nice porkers met with a good demand, and sold from 16a up to 25a each ; heavyweights to 36a 6d . Stores were lower than at resent sales, and fetched from 8s to 16s each, according to description.
