THE JUBILEE ADDRESS
The album containing the congratulatory jubilee address from the New Zealand Legislature to her Majesty the Queen has recently been finished. The volume (remarks tho "New Zealand Herald") la a magnificent piece of work. The rim of the oover is of silver, and there ia also a border of the same metal ranging right round it <n scroll work and laurel leaves. Immediately within this Is another a'lver border of the " bush lawyer," with &*x In each corner. The inner frame is bordored with greenstone, and In euch corner a small Imperial crown m gold with oak leaves branohlog from it. The centfe frame representa Maori carving m its original style, set with Pawa shell Within this, Maori weapons and mate ore depicted, beautifully worked m Maori reeding ; and the whole is surmounted by a heavy silverembossed crown. In the centre of the oover is a silver plate, on which are ineoribed the following words m Old English:—''The pnople of No* Zealand to the Queen, 1887." The plate is snrrounded by three-fold laurel m silver O itheraokef the oover a. view of Auckland ha bor ie arisdcally represented m New Zealand wood* This part of the work was done by Mr Seuffart, of Auckland. Toe 11 pages of the votumo, which contain the ftdrers and signet urea of the members of both Houses of Parliament, are beautifully illuminated. Each page is ornamented with decorations and sorftll m all colors and shades, nnd 1b finished with perfect taste. This portion of the work was executed by Mr Book The address will be sent to England m tlma to be presented to her Majesty on the 20th Jane. The gold and silver work was designed and exeonted hy Mr Kohn.
