FEDERATION.
The Government has telegraphed to the delegates of this colony at the Imperial Conference, questioning the advisability of their taking part m any discussion on Federation. (Received April 2, 1.50 pm) RETRENCHMENT. The retrenchment m the land office will affect over 150 officers whose dismissals date from the end of June. This will produce an extensive saving m the public expenditure.
