THE PRESS ON MR GLADSTONE.
Mr Gladstone's speech on the Irish Crimes Bill has caused considerable comment. The ••Times" remarks that he has a marvellous power of disowning former principles. The ° Standard " and " Telegraph ° characterise his conduct as that of an ob" structionist, retarding useful national legislation. The " Chronicle " admits that he displayed consummate address m his utterances on the Irish question, but considers his arguments were completely demolished by Mr Chamberlain's reply.
