THE LONDON CORPORATION.
Startling disclosures conitnue to come before the Committee of the House of Commons appointed to' investigate the charges of corruption brought against the Corporation. The evidence more than bears out the original charge, which was that has been expended m efforts to defeat the City of London Government Bill. Amongst the witnesses examined was Joseph B. Firth, who at the time of the introduction of the Bill was a Liberal member for Kensington. Mr Firth affirmed that 1,000 were expended on the working up of meetings, petitions, and agencies to defeat the measure. The inquiry, which is causing great excite* ment, is still proceeding.
