' In connection with the resignation of the Ponsonby Rifles, Captain McDonald tendered his resignation, and that of Lieutenants Martilla and Palmer, to Colonel Lyon, but he declined to reoeire them, and referred Captain McDonald to Lieutenant-Colonel Mahon, the ofEcar commanding the battalion, aa being the proper persona to {receive them. The i latter officer refused to aocept them, bot placed tbe officers under arrest. At a stormy meeting of tbe No. 2 Battalion Garrison Band one of the prominent officers was called on to resign, m order that an attempt might be mado to restore harmony.

No. 3 Battalion paraded on Wednesday night, and a Volunteer appeared withont uniform. He stated that the Color-Sergeant of his Company told him that the men were about to disband. A conference of superior offioers was held, and dolor-Sargent Power of the Veteran Rifles, was placed under arrest, and stripped of his armß,pendlng a courtmartial.
Colonel Lyons will bold a Court of Inquiry concerning the arrested officers. The oharge is laid under seotion 174, In regard to discipline. Tbe sitting of the Court of Inquiry and Its decision are looked forward to with 00 raider able Interest.
