The Election petition enquiry opened this morning before Mr H. G. Seth Smith, R.M. The petition prayi that the election of George Harper as » member of the City South Ltoenslng Committee be deolared void, beoause certain persons voted who were not en* titled to do so, while others voted oftener th«n entitled. Mr Button, for the p titionere, enumerated instances of wrongful voting, inoluding, several of allowed porßonatlon; The most noticeable case wai that of Mra Frank Jagger, who voted m the name of Mra Samuel J tirger, the latter being absent m Suvopev Mr Button said he would nob pnei thf» caso as he believed the lady voted) Innocently, being peroasded she was on tbe roll. The hearing is proceeding.
