Melbourne, March 14.
T.he police have ascertained that Charles Augustus Smythe, locil preacher, who on Tuesday last was sentenced Je five years imprisonment for defrauding Retallick (sic) 0(^1200 had previously imposed upon several people m Dunedin and Christchurch, where he was suspected of incendiarism. He has recently married a girl while he had a wife and children alive. He will probably be indicted for bigamy.
