SEIZURE OF AN ILLICIT STILL.

The spot have long been known as a " suspected " one. bat it ii only lately that the plans of the police has so fat matured that they were able to act. Accordingly a party conaisttng of Inspector Broham, Deteotive Kirby, SergeHrt Livingstone, and Constable Stanley left ! town ia a trap at 2 a.m. yesterday, . and reached the holding named about daylight. Careful search brought to ' light aSO gallon still constructed of elno, 6 6 wooden casks and one tub, 2 jars nearly fall of liquid, which, to all appearanoes, ' is adulterated whiskey, and an oil drum. 1 The "find" was made by Inspeotor ' Broham and Deteotive Kir by. After b finding the thingrs named the male ocoupanta of the house, viz , James and 1 Joseph Matthews, and James Bill, were r promptly arrested, were brought into ' Timaru last evening and lodged m gaol > They will be brought before the court 1 this morning, but an adjournment is to be asked for, as the police have not had 5 sufficient time to work np the case.
