THE LONDON CIRCUS

Messrs Herbert and Fi'zger_ld : s London Clrons opens at Ashburton to-morrow evening, for one night only. Judging from the notices of our exchanges it appears to be well deserving of patronage, the "Timara Herald," for instance, reporting aa follow*:' — Taking Ihe company ' as a whole, it unquestionably deserved the support which was accorded to it at its openiag performanoa. The horses were remarkably well trained, and they went through thoir different evolution, with marked perfection. We have rarely aeen hordes which have acted with such complete obedience to tbe orders of the master of the ring as did the Bronco horses attached to this company. The see-saw was an instance of the successful training of the two horsPß which performed this very olever balancing feat The daring bare-back feats of horsemanship elicited considerable applause, and the equestrian performers are far above the average riders who have previously visited Timaru. Tho exhibition of a horse, seated m a carriage, with reins m mouth, piloting two horses, at full gallop, round the ring, was an item quite new m connection with oircus shows, and elicited well deserved applause. A member of the oompany apologised for being compelled to break faith with the publio for not producing the "human oartrldge," m consequence of the artistes specially ' engaged for that business having severed their connection with the oircus a day or two after the bills were posted. The juggler was a source of much amusement, as he very cleverly kept six balis tossing with great precision above his head, and the acrobats' Bomer.aults wore particularly good, several of them vaulting over as many as 11 horses placed tide by bide.
