CUSTOMS AND BEER DUTY.

Tb.9 Customs duty for February amounted to £102,666 4s 8d as agains £117,039 2s 7d for the correspond mc; month of laßt year. The amounts at the four principal ports were as follows :— Auckland, £30,713 ; Dunedin, £24,390 ; Chrißtchurch, £13,158 ; Wellington, £15,685, Purinp eleven months of the financial year £1,173,5b7 has boen collected. This shows a deficiency of £118,932 on the Treasurer's estimate for the period. Beer duty for the month was £4753 against £4754 m February last year. The estimate for eleven months is £50,416, but only £48,168 has been collected. The principal contributions were— Auckland, £1053 ; Dunedin, £918 ; Gnristchurch, £970 ; Wellington, £516.
