In the House of Commons to-day the Secretary of State for the Colonies, m reply to a question, slated that the Governor of Fiji and the High Commissioner for the Western Pacific would personally conduct an enquiry into the state of affairs m Tonga. Upwards of twenty applications have been received for the position of Professor of Agriculture m the Department of Agriculture, m South Australia. Several of the applications are from excellent men. The selection will not be made until the arrival of Mr Downes on March 14.
