When the water reached his nook be ohanged his mind, and came, out and went home. In the meantime his cousin had received the letter, had communicated the intelligence to another Chinese party working near by, and all went m search of the body. On returning to the hut m the evening, after a fruitless search they were ourSrlied to find the dead man standing at !ia fire drying his olothes, looking none the worst, but deoidedly cleaner, for his brief Immersion. The most serious aspect of the case is that the suicide bequeathed the whole of his belongings to his devoted cousin, who now lays claim to the lot, and refuses to givo up posses* •lon.
