A GOOD LANDLORD.
A reoent issue of tho North Otago Times ■ays:— "The tenants on Mr John M'Lean's Waltaki Plain property have no reason to complain of the mannsr m which they btve Seen treated by their landlord Owing to the unfavorable weather at the beginning of the season it was almost im poulble for the tenants m some instances to get the seed m m time, and the conseqoenoes were that some of the crops were not very go d. ' Some of the tenants were however, more fortunate la respect to the time they got their crops la, «nd reaped fair returns ; but the calculations of a number were cpiet by a hurricane which blew when the grain wh in » ripe state, rendering it m some oases Inadvisable to go to the expense of catting it. Mr M'Lean, however, met the diffionlty by ooming very generously to the assistance of his tenants. To those who cnt their crops previous to the wind the rent; agreed upon was charged ; those who oat after the wind were charged half rental ; and those who did not out at ail were charged nothing. "
