Harvest operations are over In this distriat. The -6 was but little wheat sown, nearly all tho oerials consisting of oats The yield is supposed to be above the average In grain, but considerably bolow it m straw. . The weather was throughout the harvest propitious.

About a fortnight ago a Band of Hope was organised here by Mr J, Farland, formerly of Tinwald. The following office-bearers were elected: — Mr J. Farland, President; Mr S. McOlfmoat, VioePresldent ; Mr James Price, Secretary; Mr Jam? b Oarloton, Treasurer. The membera of tho Managing Committee are: — Messm S. Brough, Jos. Price, Jos. BrowD, 0. Aiimtrong, and J. McCilmont. Seventeen adult and thirty three funior members have already be>n enrolled. The next meeting will tike place on Tuesday. — It has been eaid that this movement was organised by and Is under the patronage of the Order of Good Templars of Sprlngburn. As a matter of faqt there Is nothing m common between that body and this one except tha question of temperance.
