An American contemporary gives the following as the cost of wheat growing m Michigan and some other western Sta<ei : —Ploughing 7o 6d per acre, fitting 4s 6d, fertilisers purchased 8i lOd, barnyard manure 3), seed 5a 21, drilling Is 63, harvesting 5s 3d, stacking 3a, threshing 5s 8), marketing 4a, iGtere3t (7 per cent) 14s 6d, insurance and taxes 2a Gi ; repairs 2s Del, When we deduot tho value of the straw and the rental value of dwellings, £2 14a 2d is left as the average cost and thfu divided by the average yield per acre, gives about 2 s 6d as the average cost per bushel, which would leave a nett pre fit of 26 per cent on tho operation of p oducing a bushel of wheat.
