A social gathering to welcome tho Rev B. A. Scott, who has just returned from the Old Country, was held m St. Stephen's Schoolroom last evening, when there was a very good attendance. Previous to the gathering a short Bervioe, which partook of the nature of a Harveßt Thanksgiving, was held m the church. The service was conoluded about oight o'clock, and was followed by an entertainment m the schoolroom, which was nicely decorated by flags, pictures, and evergreenß. The chair was takon by Dr Trevor, who opened the proooodings with a epeeoh appropriate to tho occasion. Addresses wore given by tho Rovb E. R. Otway and B. A. Soott, tho former of whom rcoountod tho work of the laßt twelve months and tho latter his experiences during his absenoo from Ashbur. ton. Musioal selections woro rendered by Mis3eß Barratt and Kidd and Mr Atkinson, and during the evening several hymns were sung, Mr H. Gates aoting as conductor. During an interval refreshments, provided by the ladies of the -congregation, were handed round. Tho singing of the National Anthem brought tho proceedings to a close.
