It is reported that the Socialists contemplate a great parade m the public parks on Sunday next.
The Lord Mayqr's Committee has decided to apportion the subscriptions to the Queen's Jubilee Fund as follows : — 30 per cent, to the British Museum, and 70 per cent, to the Imperial Institute.
The Emperor William has expressed himself satisfied with the favorable results of the elections to the German Reichstag, and he will convene the Reichstag without waiting for the reballoting of the disputed Socialist seats m Berlin.
The Home and Foreign policy of the English Government formed the subject of speeches delivered by the Right Hons. G. J. Goschen and H. Matthews. Mr Goschen, speaking at a banquet at the .Sr. George's Club, said. Government had determined to maintain England's honor abroad, and would enforce order at Home. Mr Matthews addressed his constituents at Birmingham. He said Government desired to maintain peace. In referring to Lord R. Churchill's secession from the Ministry, he expressed the hope that Lord Randolph would rejoin the Government after the delivery of the Budget speech.
The Federal Insurance Company is announced, with a capital of ;£i,000,000, half of which is to be called up.
By the end of March the Admiralty will have the armaments completed for thirty merchant cruisers.
The officers of the Servian army on furlough have been summoned to report for duty.
It is rumored that Sir William Robinson, now] Governor of Trinidad, is to be transferred to Hong Kong, and that Sir F; Napier Broome is to succeed Sir F. A. Weld m the Straits Settlements.
